Three local producers will receive 26-week internships with provincial film, television and new media companies, thanks to sponsorship by Film Nova Scotia. The provincial Crown corporation will provide $27,000 to take part in the Canadian Film and Television Production Association Atlantic Mentorship Program. The program is also sponsored by Telefilm Canada, New Brunswick Film and the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation. It will match seven mid- to emerging-level producers with association-member companies in the three provinces. Three of these internships will be offered in Nova Scotia. “Film Nova Scotia is thrilled to be involved with such a dynamic program,” said Ann MacKenzie, president and CEO of Film Nova Scotia. “Programs that offer emerging talent the opportunity to work and learn from established professionals are vital to continue the growth of Nova Scotia’s film, television and new media industry.” Last year, the program matched emerging Halifax producers Jason Eisener and Jeff Coll with Halifax companies Arcadia Entertainment and Standing 8 Productions respectively. The deadline for applications is Thursday, May 15. Applications and more information are available on the website at www.cftpa.ca . Film Nova Scotia is a provincial Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of Economic Development. The corporation provides a wide range of programs and services to build the capacity and competitiveness of the province’s film, television and new media industries. The Canadian Film and Television Production Association is a non-profit trade organization that works on behalf of almost 400 companies engaged in the production and distribution of English-language television programs, feature films and interactive media products in Canada.
